~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Broadcasting (Advisor: Mr. Greiss): Broadcasting club provides students with hands-on real world experience in the broadcasting field learning both behind the scenes product and technical skills as well as on camera/on mic public speaking, interviewing, play by play and show hosting. Students create their own video podcast shows, livestream school events and fully produce sports broadcasts.
ECHO Newspaper (Advisor: Ms. Keenan): The Amityville Echo is excited to start another year of student reporting. We cover everything from local, national, and international news, to the latest in Arts and Entertainment, as well as Sports, and special interest Features. This year we’re also adding business and technology stories as well as PODCASTING! Join us on Tuesdays in room 223!
Key Club (Advisor: Ms. Mizrachi) : Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year!  Key Club is back in action and ready to start a fun filled year with dedication to service and unity.  This year we began with wearing ribbons for Domestic Violence Awareness and a schoolwide book drive.  Our Book Drive is being collaborated with an organization called Book Fairies whose mission is to provide books to schools and families in need.  We are currently collecting for our annual Spooky Grams.  We pre-sell cupcakes, candy and haunted boxes.  All proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Awareness.  In November we will be leading a Districtwide Food Drive where we collect food for Island Harvest and create baskets for local families in the District who need a little extra love during the holidays.  Then in December, we will be collecting and donating for Pediatric Cancer.
National Honor Society (Advisors: Ms. Schulken and Ms. Howard): Ms. Howard and I are very excited to be the new co-advisors of NHS!  NHS promotes Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Character in AMHS.  We help provide community services opportunities to our members and the school community.  We are also trying to better promote Peer Tutoring through NHS this year.  Students can look to their peers for additional support and encourage academic success for all AMHS students. –Schulken
NHS is also in all 50 states,territories, and other countries throughout the world! On average, there are about 1 million members worldwide each year, so this is not simply a group of students in our district demonstrating qualities of the four pillars, but an international initiative to improve both the local and global community. –Howard
Rho Kappa National Honor Society (Advisors: Ms. Schulken and Ms. Mizrachi): Ms. Mizrachi and I are excited for our first full year as the Rho Kappa co-advisors!  Rho Kappa is particularly interested in students who have demonstrated dedication to the academic field of social studies, participation in activities that demonstrate civic engagement in the school or community, and the display of outstanding character during their school career.  We would like to promote an appreciation of the social studies at AMHS.  Rho Kappa would also like to highlight historical events throughout the year that promote diverse cultures and communities. -Schulken
Senior Class (Advisors: Ms. Borja and Ms. Rankin): We are trying to mak this year the best year possible for our seniors! This is an exciting year to make memories and huge achievements. Looking forward to Senior Dinner, Prom, and other senior events, we do a lot of fundraising so stay tuned!
Student Council (Advisor: Mr. Greiss): Student Council provides students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, community service, and school spirit. Students serve as advocates for the student body, meeting with the principal to discuss concerns and hosting our annual Unity Summit. Students develop school spirit events like dances, poetry slams, karaoke,  and talent shows. Students also provide community service by running blood drives, volunteering at the Long Island Homeless Coalition, and raising money for children with cancer through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Hero Squad.
Tri-M Honor Society (Advisor: Ms. Ferrante): The Tri-M Honor Society, the Ms standing for “Modern Music Masters” strives to  show the importance of music. Working concerts, holding recitals, playing around the school, and more we bring music into our school. It is filled with talented and determined musicians who give their all in everything. Reaching mastery over all, above mastery in their music class, and being active in their musical community, these students have earned their place.
