After coming off of a great season (12-4 the first winning season in a long time) the Amityville baseball team looks to build upon their legacy. The season is some time away but senior captain Aidan McCullough says “I have been practicing everyday.” Coming off an all-league season, Aidan looks to add to the resume.
I asked Aidan and Senior first baseman Ewerson what they were excited for this season. Aidan replied with “After having that winning feeling I just want to get back out there and win again.” Ewerson rshared, “We are in a new league and I am ready for the competition.” With Amityville moving up leagues, the players are very excited for this new competition. Amityville was known for how bad they were but in these recent seasons they have proved to everyone they are not to be played with. I asked why people come out to the games and they both replied with “They should come out to support and show love to the baseball team.” With Amityville’s big season coming they encourage people to come watch the games and show support.
I asked how they will follow up last season’s success. Aidan replied with “just by winning by taking it one game at a time and tallying up the win column.” Ewerson saiid, “We have a lot of great returning players, we will do nothing but win.” The team lost 5 seniors but stars like Senior Darell Sanchez, Senior Alex Waye, Junior Waldi, and Sophomore Elijah are all returning. The team last year had 5 All League players including one All County player, Alex Waye. This year’s team is nothing to be played with, they have some serious competitors and great players.
With Amityville moving up some leagues they are seeing no competition. The main target for this season is to make the playoffs. Amityville has been in a playoff drought for a long time. This year they are holding on to hope. Come watch and support your Amityville Baseball team in the spring time.
