The Amityville Varsity Football team recently won their first game since 2022. With just seven seconds left in a close game against Deer Park, senior quarterback Jeremiah Luciano blocked a field goal attempt, sealing the Amityville victory.
Luciano ran also for a 12-yard score, made ten tackles, and completed 15 of his 23 passes, totalling 257 yards. Senior receiver Amari Alcindor had six catches, running for 170 yards and a touchdown.
The Varsity boys battled difficult field conditions and fell just short of a second victory during Saturday’s Homecoming game. Senior running back, Da’Jon Clinton rushed for 135 yards and two TDs, while Senior cornerback Sean Kreuder’s interception in the 2nd quarter also added to the positive moves made by Amityville.
Senior cornerback Judah Benloss praised the teams’ efforts and noted the difficult conditions on the field, brought on by the rainy weather conditions. When asked about the team’s overall effort this year, quarterback Jeremiah Luciano stated the team is “working together to become more of a brotherhood.”
We wish them the best of luck as the season unfolds.
