The miserable weather might have sent the marching band off the streets and onto a bus, but the Amityville spirit was still alive and well as AMHS cheerleaders and class floats rolled through the downtown streets and into the AMHS parking lot, while this year’s Homecoming Court waved to sidewalk onlookers.
This year’s Homecoming Court was made up of the following members of the Senior Class: John Arango, Jesus Barrios, Saul Fernandez, Adonis Lyons, Lizette Acosta, Tiffany Asbell, Kayla Canales Avalos, Erin Kreuder. At halftime, Adonis Lyons was crowned Homecoming King and Tiffany Asbell was crowned Homecoming Queen.
The first quarter saw Varsity Cheerleaders leading a group of K-8 cheer clinic participants from the surrounding community, while the remaining quarters featured chants and cheers from the E.W. Miles Middle School cheerleaders, the AMHS JV Cheerleaders, and Varsity Cheer team.
The boy’s Varsity Football team was excited to take the field after a momentous win over Kings Park the week before– their first win in the past two years. The weather made things even more challenging, turning the field into a virtual Slip and Slide at times.
Despite some great moves from players such as Sean Kreuder, and Da’Jon Clinton, the Warriors ultimately fell to the Rocky Point Eagles 28-20.
