On Monday, October 28, 2024, the Amityville Warriors Boys Varsity Soccer Team took on the Hauppauge Eagles in their first playoff game.
Senior Briam Rivera opened the scoring, putting the Warriors up 1-0 in the first half. Hauppauge soon responded with an equalizer, bringing the game to 1-1 at halftime. In the second half, Junior Xavian Jackson delivered the winning goal, securing a 2-1 victory for the Warriors. With this victory, the Warriors move forward to their 11th consecutive county semifinal appearance.
Next up, Amityville will face Comsewogue, who earned their spot by knocking out Smithtown West in a penalty shootout. The Smithtown West loss was a surprise, as they held the #1 spot in Class AA according to New York State Sportswriters Association as of October 22.
The Warriors will face Comsewogue at home, Amityville Memorial High School, this Wednesday, October 30, at 2:15 PM. Having already defeated Comsewogue twice this season with scores of 3-2 and 5-1, Amityville is ready to keep up the momentum. Let’s see if they can do it again!
