Amityville’s Second Season of Competition Cheer

Before the 2017 winter season, Amityville cheerleaders were only known for sideline cheers at football and basketball games. At the encouragement of the athletic director, Evan Farkas, the squad was turned into a competitive team. The Amityville cheerleaders did have some doubts about becoming a competitive team but they already had all the aspects of a competitive team. Section XI states “Any Cheerleading squad that stunts or tumbles will be considered a Competitive Cheer Squad and is subject to all SED and NYSPHSAA rules and regulations.” The cheerleaders were already stunting and had a hand full of amazing tumblers. With a new season approaching, the team is slowly preparing by learning new forms of stunts and teaching tumbling. There are very high hopes for the upcoming competitive cheer season, with new stunts and new tumbles.
