The AMHS girls varsity volleyball team started their season with spirit. They had a goal of making the playoffs, and it was an adventurous journey. The ride has been bumpy and at times difficult for many of the team players. The girls have a record of 3-9 so far and the season will end next Wednesday. Although the season has been rough and they will not go to playoffs, individually the team has done outstanding. Senior Victoria Erwat led with the most kills in the county (235), while senior Mary Dexter led with the most aces in the county (56) and junior Sabitha Joseph scoring an impressive 171 digs throughout the season so far.

Although the team itself hasn’t succeeded to where they wanted to be, they have come closer together towards the end of their season. As one player remarked at the recent “Dig Pink” game “We look like an actual team.” The team has been playing more as a team and not for themselves as they sometimes were in the beginning of the season. Players have grown as individuals and became a real team.

There are currently ten players on the team, five of which are seniors. The team will be losing half of their starters by the end of the season but Coach Dexter has many ideas on how to improve their future and is hopeful the girls will reach their playoff goal in the years to come.
