Well, it’s about that time again. The winter season is *just* about to kick in, and to help combat the cold winds outside, I present to you a strong, yet flavorful, peppermint hot chocolate made from *scratch*. Yes, from scratch, not the prepackaged hot cocoa you find at Walmart. To start off, whisk two tablespoons of milk, two tablespoons of your preferred cocoa powder, and two tablespoons of candy cane pieces in a small saucepan over low-medium heat until heated, not boiling. Afterwards, whisk in one cup of milk and heat up the liquid until heated. Top with Cool Whip, chocolate syrup, and extra candy cane pieces if desired. Enjoy!!

Alternatives: You can use 2-3 tablespoons of sugar and ¼ teaspoon of peppermint extract in place of the peppermint candy cane pieces. You can also add ½ cup of strong brewed coffee for a “mocha” styled hot cocoa. – You can replace the milk with same amount of half & half for a more richer taste!
