About Us
Welcome to the 6th year of the new and improved Amityville Echo!
Our aim is to bring you the latest in news, sports, pop culture, school events, and arts & entertainment. In our first year reviving the paper (2018-2019), one of our journalism students actually landed an exclusive 25-minute phone interview with the iconic ESPN journalist, Stephen A. Smith! Over the years, students have also landed in-person interviews with legendary hip-hop artist, Darryl McDaniels (of Run-DMC fame) as well as Amityville alum, Raj Parekh (Acting United States Attorney and First Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.)
Many of our graduates have gone on to participate in important online news forums dealing with the many social, political, and educational issues facing our world today.
We welcome all AMHS students from grades 9-12 to participate in any way they feel they might be able to contribute. We hope to offer diverse content, alternative perspectives, and even differing opinions on a variety of issues. We would love to feature articles in an array of different languages.
Our goal in the coming months is to THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX. This is only the start of what we hope will be an ever-evolving source of carefully researched information coupled with creative expression.
We hope you’ll join us on this journey!
Sincerely,
The Amityville Echo Staff
For the students, by the students.
