Mötley Crüe is a well known rock band from the 80’s, who still tour today. Their band consists of…
Lead Singer: Vince Neil
Bassist: Nikki Sixx
Guitarist: Mick Mars
Drummer: Tommy Lee
Current Guitarist: John 5
Mick Mars has had a health condition, stemming from 10 years before he ever joined Mötley Crüe. He suffers from ankylosing spondylitis. In 2022, he left the band and was replaced by John 5. Briefly, Vince Neil quit the band, and was replaced by singer John Corabi for 4 years, until Vince Neil returned. Funny how the 2 replacements the band had, were both named John.
Mötley Crüe has had a very large number of top 1 and popular hit songs. They were known for their reckless lifestyle, and always causing mayhem on tour. If you are interested in this band, or even the genre in general, The Dirt is a really good movie to watch.
Moving on to the songs, Mötley Crüe released the song “Kick Start My Heart” in their album Dr. Feel good. You may not know that this song is actually about Bassist and Band Founder, Nikki Sixx. In 1987, he suffered from a drug overdose in a hotel, on December 23rd. On the way to the hospital, they pronounced him dead, many titles made it to the news with unofficial reports that Nikki Sixx had died due to a drug overdose. However, they were able to bring him back with 2 doses of adrenaline. This story is what inspired their hit song “Kick Start My Heart.” I bet you didn’t know that until now. The band also had a rough history with drugs and alcohol, like the deadly car crash with Vince Neil (Lead Singer), and Razzle, from Hanoi Rocks.
This symbolic song, representing a fatal event should be a clear warning to everyone to be careful about what they are doing, and to think before you act. A world wide famous band, known for their reckless style can’t even handle these dangers, so take it as a huge warning sign and lesson. At the same time, take it as a lesson for growth. After every obstacle that came their way, they were able to keep going and stay on tour. Mick Mars had the motivation to travel and perform for how many years, until it was too much? Not to mention, he was at least 10 years older than all of the other band members. Even when hitting rock bottom, it does not mean it is the end of your story.
