Who was Ozzy Osbourne?
Ozzy Osbourne, also known as the Prince of Darkness, passed away on July 22, 2025. He was born on December 3rd, 1948, and later became the face of the band Black Sabbatch, from 1968-1979. The British singer became so iconic, everyone knew his name. Although, he did not really keep his name clean. He was cut from the band due to major issues with drug and alcohol use.
Whenever I have a conversation with someone about Ozzy Osbourne, his well known habits always get brought up. One disturbing and infamously known incident, where he bit off the head of a bat, and many more. Some of these doings were featured in the movie The Dirt, when he was on tour with the band Motley Crue. Even though he was no longer on tour, he and his family started a reality show called The Osbournes, which was a hit. It is funny to see a softer side of someone with such a dark reputation, for instance, just cuddling the little fluffy dog.
In 2020, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. He knew that his time was limited, and later went on to hold a farewell show in 2025. He was trying his best to sing and was limited to mainly just sitting in his chair, but you can see the emotion in his face and how badly he wanted to be able to perform like he used to. On the day that he passed, every radio station you could think of was rolling in his songs, every media outlet was posting him, paying tribute.
In the recent 2025 Grammys, Post Malone, Slash – from Gun’s ‘N Roses, Duff McKagan – from Gun’s ‘N Roses, and Chad Smith – from Red Hot Chilli Peppers, all performed a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, singing Ozzy’s song War Pigs. Ozzy’s wife Sharon, and daughter sat front row, enjoying the song.
Post Malone also had a good friendship with Ozzy. In Post’s album Circles, they released the song Take What You Want, forming a mix of rap, and rock.
