At the Nassau County Court in Mineola, the New York Civil Liberties Union held the second wave of the “No King’s!” Protest, where over 1,000 Long Islanders attended. Crowds of Long Islanders from all demographics, from young to old, and many from diverse backgrounds, all gathered to call out President Donald Trump and his administration for the unjust actions that many believe they should be held accountable for. As many Long Islanders flooded the Nassau County Courthouse lawn, they held signs that shared powerful messages with others and chanted words of encouragement even when opposition protesters gathered against them. The protest itself was a strong showcase of what a peaceful protest looks like. Many shared stories and discussed their personal feelings, while poems and a prayer were shared amongst the crowd. Others danced to drums and music following the lead of a young lady who repeated the phrases, “ No justice! No peace,” “The people United will never be divided,” and “We’re not going back,” spreading a senses of hope, courage, and motivation to the mixed crowd.
