As graduation draws closer, the Amityville Memorial High School Class of 2026 took one final journey through the district, this time as role models for the students who hope to one day follow in their footsteps.
Dressed in caps, gowns, and plenty of smiles, the seniors visited every school in the Amityville Union Free School District during the annual Senior Walk. Their first stops were Northwest Elementary School, Northeast Elementary School, and Park Avenue Memorial Elementary School, where excited students lined the hallways, clapping, cheering, and reaching out for high-fives as the graduates walked by.
The celebration continued at Edmund W. Miles Middle School, where younger students and former teachers welcomed the seniors back. For many graduates, it was a chance to revisit familiar classrooms and reconnect with the educators who helped shape their journey from elementary school through high school.
The annual tradition serves as more than just a celebration. It gives younger students the opportunity to see what years of hard work and perseverance can lead to, while allowing seniors to reflect on just how far they have come.
After completing the district-wide walk, the Class of 2026 returned to Amityville Memorial High School for a well-deserved Senior BBQ in the gym. Friends gathered to enjoy lunch together, laugh about memories from the past four years, and soak in some of their final moments as classmates. Seniors passed around autograph pages, filling them with handwritten messages, inside jokes, favorite memories, and words of encouragement for the future. The keepsakes captured friendships that have been built over years of classes, clubs, sports, performances, and countless shared experiences.
The celebration wasn’t over yet. Following the BBQ, the seniors headed outside for their final Battle of the Classes. Filled with friendly competition, school spirit, and plenty of laughter, the event brought together students from every grade level for an afternoon of games and challenges.
From walking the halls where their educational journey began to making one last set of memories with their classmates, the Senior Walk and BBQ offered the Class of 2026 a chance to celebrate both how far they have come and the exciting paths that lie ahead. As they prepare to turn their tassels and begin a new chapter, the memories made during this special day will remain a lasting reminder that, no matter where life takes them, they will always be part of the Amityville family.
