Mrs. Mizrachi seems to be an extremely involved teacher in our school, yet she has very little to no spotlight put on her. While she’s connected to students through Key Club, Teachers of Tomorrow, AP World History, AP African American Studies, while also being the person who hires students to work for the school.
Dawn Mizrachi started working at Amityville Memorial High School in 2007 and in that short period of time she was able to introduce the course AP African American studies to our district, as AP European studies had a zero average passing, she applied to be one of the first teachers in the Long Island to teach African American studies as Mizrachi claims she ‘thought it would be more rounded with the students’.
As Mrs Mizrachi teaches two AP courses, she finds the most joy in her career through students. She began to involve herself with students outside of classes through clubs, as she stated ‘I think that’s just my personality. I like to see kids happy and seeing them in classes and clubs is different and brings a different positivity amongst the kids and parents.”
